About Hella Music

Mission statement

Hella Music is a youth focussed organisation delivering music industry training and education for young people in Nottingham. We provide opportunities for all young people with a passion for music to develop their industry skills and knowledge. Also providing advice and guidance, we aim to support new talent, increase employability, nurture new enterprise and help to develop the Midlands music scene whilst working in partnership with other organisations.

Our main focus is teaching young people with a serious interest in the music industry as a career about the business aspects of the industry with the aim of developing skills, increasing employability, creating new enterprise and the creation of an East Midlands music industry.

Our clients may already be working towards a career in the entertainment industry e.g. artists, producers, promoters, pluggers, managers and entrepreneurs or they may not have any prior knowledge or engagement with the industry. By developing their industry knowledge and skills, they are increasing their understanding of the business and therefore increasing their chances of getting through the industry door and success.

Why do we do it?

There is a lot of undiscovered talent in Nottingham who want to succeed in the music industry. Unfortunately, many learning providers oversee the business aspects of the industry and focus on developing creative skills so many students on music-related courses finish their studies but do not know how the industry works, have no industry experience or any industry contacts. There is also little awareness about other careers in the industry and without the people who work behind the scenes there would not be an industry!

We run activities that will provide opportunities for young people to get first hand experience in the industry, to learn from key players in the industry and to create networks within the national industry as well as meeting like minded people locally.
